Captain Ross enlisted on 28 May, 1915 and was repatriated to Australia on 27 November, 1919. He served with the 27th Battalion throughout the war. Three photographs and the transcript of a letter, 19 September, 1915, are reproduced in La Trobe Library Journal, vol. 11, no. 44, 1989, pp. 14-15.
